Privacy policy

What personal data Nairobi Square collects, why, and your rights under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.

What we collect

  • Account details: name, phone number, email address and a securely hashed password.
  • Orders, delivery addresses, payment references and messages you exchange with sellers.
  • For sellers: business details, the national ID number and identity documents, and payout account details.
  • Basic technical data needed to keep the service secure (for example, sign-in sessions and request logs).

How we use it

  • To run the marketplace: accounts, orders, payments, refunds, payouts and support.
  • To keep people safe: verifying sellers, preventing fraud, and handling reports and disputes.
  • To send you messages about your account and orders by SMS, email and in-app notifications.

How we protect it

  • Identity documents are stored privately and only seen by Nairobi Square’s verification team, through short-lived links.
  • Passwords are never stored in readable form. Payout account details are shown in full only to the staff who send payouts.
  • Administrators use two-step sign-in, and sensitive actions are recorded in an audit log.

Sharing

We share what is needed to complete an order: the seller sees your name, phone and delivery address for their own orders. Payments, SMS and email are processed by our service providers. We do not sell personal data.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or to object to its use, by writing to support@nairobisquare.co.ke. Some records (such as orders and payments) must be kept for legal and accounting reasons.

Signed in, you can download a copy of your data and delete your account yourself, under Account → Security.
